Podcast
TOGAF and DoDAF: Enterprise Architecture's Power Couple (11:59 minutes)
TOGAF and DoDAF, where have they been? Where are they going? And why do
they need to relate to one another more these days? "I think we're
seeing the state of industry advance and looking at trying to have the
federal government, both United States and abroad, embrace global
industry standards for EA work," said Armstrong Process Group's Chris
Armstrong.

Today's Story Highlights

A Bunch of Unused PCs Won't Be Able to Go Online Monday
Anywhere from 250,000 to 500,000 computers worldwide may lose Web access
Monday morning if their users don't manage to remove malware called
"DNSChanger" from their machines. A massive public information campaign
has been undertaken over the last several months to inform people about
the virus and how to remove it, but thousands of computers remain
infected.

Apple's Language Lapse Irks Hong Kong iTunes Users
Today in international tech news: Apple may have irked some Hong Kong
users when its newly-launch iTunes store displayed song titles in a
language other than Cantonese. Also: Google and Italy reach a deal that
will bring newsreels and propaganda from Mussolini to the Web; and
Facebook lays down a big investment in a 6,200-mile underwater Internet
cable in the Pacific.

Devs Claim App Store Updates Are Coated in Crash Sauce
More than 70 iOS apps that were updated on or after July 3 are
apparently crashing once they're launched, according to a few angry
developers. For example, customers swamped Marco Arment, the creator of
Instapaper, on July 4 with complaints that update 4.2.3 of his app had
crashed immediately on launch, minutes after it had been approved by Apple.

The Whys, Wherefores and Whens of an iPad Mini
The only barrier to Apple introducing a smaller version of the iPad in
the near future appears to be the objections of its deceased cofounder
Steve Jobs. That seems to be the gathering consensus of opinion on the
Net, as what was once an airy rumor has now become a virtual
inevitability in the opinions of several market analysts.

ROM Manager Makes Device Maintenance a Pleasure
If you've been getting into flashing ROMs on your devices, you're
familiar with the palava that goes with it: booting to recovery,
swapping cards, adb, fastboot, renaming zip files, and the rest of it.
ROM Manager, from ClockworkMod, the recovery software maker, claims to
largely alleviate the kerfuffle by providing a one-stop app that
launches and automates many of these tasks.
