Make Room for the Enterprise App Store (25:27 minutes)
With mobile devices like smartphones and tablets in their hands at all
hours, workforces are becoming more mobile and more powerful. However,
those devices have also caused enterprise IT leaders much dread due to
the problems involved with supporting them all. Making room for an
enterprise app store may be part of a better mobile management strategy.

Today's Story Highlights

Amazon Blazes New Tablet Trail With Kindle Fire
Amazon unveiled its long-awaited answer to the Apple iPad on Wednesday:
the Kindle Fire. However, Amazon CEO and Founder Jeff Bezos positioned
the Kindle Fire as a new class of the company's Kindle e-reader rather
than an iPad challenger per se. The Fire has a customized version of
Android and runs Amazon's Silk browser, which leverages the Amazon
cloud. Amazon also announced three other Kindle readers.

Mango Makes Windows Phone a Contender
Microsoft on Tuesday released the latest version of its smartphone
operating system, a version that could make handsets using the OS more
competitive with market leaders Android and iOS. The new release --
Windows Phone 7.5, aka "Mango" -- has more than 500 new features,
according to Microsoft, most of which are aimed at improving the
productivity of those who use phones running the operating system.

Next-Gen Firewalls Make Old Arguments New Again
The last few years have brought us arguably the most significant change
in firewall technology in decades. Ever since "stateful inspection" was
introduced by Check Point in the late 1990s, firewall administrators and
information security officers have been defining security policies based
primarily on a connection's source IP address, destination IP address
and service.

K3b Burns Hot, Burns Bright
Burning optical platters can be frustrating and time-consuming. Show me
a computer user who doesn't have a trash bin filled with spent CDs and
DVDs, and I will show you a user who doesn't burn discs. Linux users
have several good CD/DVD burning apps available -- and a pile of not-so-
good choices.

Spotify Requires New Users to Get Friendly With Facebook
The problem with hitching your wagon to a shooting star, as online music
service Spotify is beginning to discover, is that sometimes you can get
burned. Spotify is one of several online music services that have teamed
up with Facebook recently and was singled out by the social networking
giant at its f8 developers conference in San Francisco last week.

Just Because You're Paranoid Doesn't Mean Facebook Isn't Watching You
Facebook's most recent API allows applications to post status updates to
a user's wall without their intervention. This is part of Facebook
Instant and is known as frictionless sharing. This means users no longer
have to proactively decide to share an item, and there's a risk that
something could be unintentionally shared with Facebook friends.
