Podcast
The Value of Architecture: Priceless (38:48 minutes)
"Business architecture is similar to other forms of architecture, in
that it tends to try to do many things all at once," according to Ernst
& Young's Peter Haviland. "The idea of enterprise alignment is
definitely the right outcome, but there is enough complexity there to
blow steam out of your head for many, many years to come."

Today's Story Highlights

Malware Munches on Mitsubishi, and Certificates Can Lie
In the wake of repeated hacker attacks on defense contractors in the
United States comes news that the systems of Mitsubishi Heavy
Industries, Japan's biggest defense contractor, have been breached.
Mitsubishi's submarine, missile and nuclear power plant component
factories were reportedly targeted by the attackers.

Google and Moto: The Best- and Worst-Case Scenarios
Google's recent plan to buy Motorola Mobility has the potential for
reshaping the entire Android landscape. If it wins regulatory approval
for the purchase, Google may only have a short time span to connect its
marketing strategy. When and if this happens, it could further fracture
the open source Android operating system.

Stop Motion Studio: Fun Movie-Maker Could Use a Coat of Wax
Stop-motion photography is the art of turning real life into a flipbook.
It allows a film-maker to snap individual images over a great length of
time, then compile hundreds or thousands of them into a scene. Played at
speed, a video produced with stop-motion photography might appear to
play out in less than a minute, even if it took hours to photograph.

Sony Battens Down Its Legal Hatches With New PSN Terms
Sony has changed the rules of engagement -- or rather, terms of service
-- for users of its PlayStation Network. In the new agreement, users opt
to give away their right to join a class action lawsuit against Sony. In
addition, the agreement contains a binding individual arbitration
clause. Users who want to play on the network have to click to "agree"
to the user agreement. However, they can still opt out.

The Future Enterprise, Part 1: Rethinking Computing
The world of business is in the midst of a profound shift, driven by a
convergence of forces -- technological, economic and social. As a
result, information must be gathered and managed more efficiently and
effectively than ever before, decisions have to be made at every level
in an organization with more certainty and immediacy, and information
technologies need to be as accessible and easy to use as a mobile phone.
