Podcast
The Value of Architecture: Priceless (38:48 minutes)
"Business architecture is similar to other forms of architecture, in
that it tends to try to do many things all at once," according to Ernst
& Young's Peter Haviland. "The idea of enterprise alignment is
definitely the right outcome, but there is enough complexity there to
blow steam out of your head for many, many years to come."

Today's Story Highlights

Smart Devices, Dumb Security?
Right now, you can buy a car that you can unlock by just touching the
door handle. No need to struggle with key fobs or keys. Known by various
names, including "Keyless Go" and "Smart Key," this feature is available
for a cool grand or so as an option on various cars, including the
Mercedes-Benz S-Class, E-Class and SL-Class; the Cadillac STS; and the
Nissan Infiniti M.

Is Tux Still the Right Mascot for Linux?
Now that Linux has reached the ripe old age of 20, it seems fair to say
the software is officially "mature." Were it a human, after all, it
would likely be allowed to drive by now, and maybe even to drink, too.
Just as we humans tend to engage in a little self-analysis and image-
updating when we reach major milestones like these, so, too, it may be
time for Linux to do the same.

The Pet Peeves of a Longtime Apple Fan
While Apple flirts with being Wall Street's most valuable company, it's
clear that the organization has been doing something right -- actually,
a helluva lot of things right. And not only right, but far better than
the competition. Consider its product lines, which usually have superior
user experiences built into every facet, starting with their packaging
and ending with internals that most people never see.

Apple - Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat
New announcements surrounding the hotly anticipated iCloud service and
speculation on the success of iPhone 5 sales helped Apple soar to the
top of the market again this week, but looming patent lawsuits and a
critically praised Windows 8 OS preview are keeping the company on its
toes moving forward. Apple once again topped big oil in market valuation
Monday, closing at an all-time high of $411.63.

Google Wallet Opens for Business
Google has premiered the first version of its Google Wallet app,
officially kicking off the mobile phone payment system it first
announced earlier this year. Google also announced that Visa, Discover
and American Express have made the first move toward getting on board
with Google Wallet.
