Today's Story Highlights

InAiR Gives TV a Breath of Fresh AR
Forget second-screen TV viewing with a tablet or phone -- so-called
second screens are a kludgy, old-school method of extending a show.
What's new? SeeSpace InAiR: The World's 1st Augmented Television. InAiR
is a Kickstarter project that intercepts your TV content stream,
analyzes it, then reaches out to the Internet to grab relevant content,
which it then displays in navigable layers on your HDTV screen.

French Cabbies Attack Uber Vehicles
French taxi drivers reportedly attacked vehicles linked to Uber, a
smartphone app that helps people find shared rides and drivers-for-hire
-- or, from cabbies' perspective, erodes a time-honored business model.
Protestors blocked traffic and went after the service's vehicles,
reported one Uber-using witness, Kat Borlongan. The vehicle she was in
suffered significant damage, including a flat tire.

NoSQL, Part 2: Grappling With Big Data
Back in 2009, SQL databases began emerging, mainly to handle modern Web-
scale databases. They could handle massive amounts of data; tackle the
exponential growth of newly created digital content from social media
sites and websites; and help build value around data by connecting the
dots -- no small task when a plethora of data is continuously being
created.

Linux Mint 16: No Surprises, but Plenty of Solid Improvements
Linux Mint 16, also known as "Petra," is a very solid release that fixes
a lot of annoying traits left behind in previous versions. The OS is
based on Ubuntu 13.10, and that solid underpinning is made even better
with the upgrade to Cinnamon 2.0 and new functionality in the Nemo file
manager. Linux Mint 16 is one of the most well-rounded releases since
the distro first adopted Cinnamon.

Chevrolet Revs Up 2015 Corvette Z06
Chevrolet pulled off the cover on its 2015 Corvette Z06 at the North
American International Auto Show in Detroit. Its new supercharged LT4
6.2L engine gets at least 625 horsepower and 635 pound-foot of torque.
Though the engine is only around 1 inch taller than the Corvette
Stingray's LT1 engine, it delivers nearly 37 percent more horsepower and
40 percent more torque.
