Podcast
Integration, Rethought (36:28 minutes)
Thoroughly mixing integration into application services allows more
people to exploit and leverage integration without being integration
technology experts. It means that the applications providers are also
the integration providers. It also means the stand-alone integration
technology supplier business -- and those that buy from it -- are facing
a new reality.

Today's Story Highlights

Will Privacy Concerns Spawn the Faceless Book?
Carnegie Mellon University researchers have developed a system that
combines facial recognition technology with social networking data and
information drawn from other sources, raising new privacy concerns. The
research team, led by Alessandro Acquisti, associate professor of
information technology and public policy, will present its findings in
full at Black Hat.

Field of Streams, Part 1
Tommy Thompson's concept of football fandom is derived from his 28 years
following the Kansas City Chiefs. He was weaned on scenes from Kansas

for their own Sunday service, replacing wine and bread with beer and
barbeque. Thompson became a devout follower. Sunday meant NFL football,
and NFL football meant the Kansas City Chiefs.

Capture for iPhone Puts Johnny a Little Closer to the Spot
Depending on how often you find yourself in bizarre, hilarious or
thrilling situations, many events in life deserve to be caught on video.
But the unexpected moments tend to pass right by, undocumented, simply
because it's usually pretty cumbersome to whip out a video cam and get
it going in time.

The Greening of Government IT
The U.S. government is actively pursuing a major shift in information
technology operations that emphasizes the use of cloud technology. While
this effort eventually may reduce the amount of "on-site" electronic
equipment used by federal agencies, other forces are at work that will
keep the government's demand for electronic devices and components at a
high level.

Anonymous, PayPal and WikiLeaks: The Grudge That Keeps On Grudging
Remember WikiLeaks? It's still around, it's still somewhat leaky, and
it's still very much loved by the amorphous hacker entity known as
"Anonymous." Anons and WikiLeaks both generally enjoy breaking down
barriers of secrecy and scattering what they find into the public view,
though they may tend to work with different styles.
