Today's Story Highlights

Stolen Password Analysis Exposes Foolish Choices
Cybercriminals recently stole more than 2 million usernames and
passwords from several popular sites including Facebook and Google.
Pony, a botnet that logs user keystrokes, captured the information from
more than 90,000 websites during the past month and then sent it to a
hacker-controlled server. It snagged data from 326,000 Facebook
accounts, 60,000 Google accounts and 22,000 Twitter accounts.

If You're Jonesing for a 2nd Screen, Air Display Is a Nifty Fix
I was intrigued when I came across Air Display, an Android app that lets
you use your tablet as a second screen. Second PC displays definitely
boost work productivity. I've been using two displays for years, keeping
my email client open all the time on the left screen -- a laptop display
-- and work-work on the right screen. I'm able to monitor incoming junk
mail without having to stop working.

NSA Harvests 5 Billion Cellphone Locations Worldwide Daily: Report
Every day, the NSA reportedly collects nearly 5 billion cellphone
location records worldwide. The information, obtained from documents
released by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, indicate the records are
stored in the agency's FASCIA database. Data on Americans' cellphones
both in the U.S. and abroad is collected "incidentally," the NSA
contended.

Wormholes Might Link Quantum-Entangled Quarks
A postulate stating that quantum-entangled black holes in our three-
dimensional universe are connected by microscopic wormholes created when
the black holes are pulled apart might be correct, researchers Andreas
Karch and Kristan Jensen have found. The suggestion, put forth by
physicists Juan Malcadena and Lenny Susskind, "is a very exciting but
somewhat speculative proposal," said Karch.

Microsoft Cranks Up Security to Lock Out Government Spies
Microsoft is taking steps to make its customers' data more secure in the
wake of revelations about government spying. The company was implicated
in NSA snooping operations after former government contractor Edward
Snowden leaked documents related to the agency's activities earlier this
year. Government spying on Microsoft's servers constitutes a persistent
threat, said General Counsel Brad Smith.
