Getting What You Want From ERP in the Cloud (9:39 minutes)
"Probably one of the biggest wins for us has been just driving
compliance against our contracts," said Brooke Krenn, whose company, Cox
Enterprises, recently moved to a cloud-based ERP system. "We're able to
see very easily now when a location or a business unit ... is purchasing
off-contract or when they're not utilizing one of our preferred or
negotiated suppliers."

Today's Story Highlights

Sprint's New Tri-Fi Hotspot Finds a Signal Any Which Way It Can
Sprint is launching a new type of mobile hotspot -- the Sierra Wireless
4G LTE Tri-Fi Hotspot, the first device that will convert LTE, WiMAX and
3G networks into a WiFi signal. Via the portable device, users can
access three networks -- Sprint's CDMA 3G network, its WiMax 4G network
and its upcoming LTE 4G network.

When Wikipedia Vandals Attack
If you've been involved in a project that has been documented on
Wikipedia and has earned its own Wikipedia page, it can be disconcerting
to visit one day and see the page vandalized, as happened to an
associate of mine recently. This incident led to a frantic email
exchange. One consideration was how to deal with the problem without
getting tagged as the vandal -- Wikipedia is collaborative, after all.

Norway Rounds Up Alleged International Teenaged Cybervillains
Today in international tech news: A pair of teenagers are arrested in
Norway for cyberattacks on, among others, Britain's Serious Organized
Crime Agency and Germany's Bild newspaper. Elsewhere, India mulls a
retroactive tax bill that could net the nation $3.75 billion from
Vodaphone, Twitter is aflutter with false Margaret Thatcher news, and
the Netherlands, once again, orders ISPs to block The Pirate Bay.

To GNU or Not to GNU? That Is the Question
There's no denying the incendiary nature of the topic of desktop Linux,
which tends to gets rehashed in heated detail every so often both on
these pages and beyond. What some may not remember, however, is that
there's another recurring Linux subject that can be equally
controversial. It hasn't appeared in some time, but apparently some slow
fires have been burning all along, because they just flared up anew.

iPad: Desperately Seeking Guest Mode
After you get over the worry that kids or grandmothers are going to drop
your iPad and then accidentally trod on it or stab it with the leg of a
walker, other problems quickly arise: For instance, what sort of
iMessage or Reminder is going to pop up from your crass buddy and
mortify your grandma? Which email from the friend who won't stop sending
the joke emails is going show up in front of a kid?

HP Declares New 'Sleekbooks' Notebook Category
The laptop world is reeling under the threat of tablets, and vendors are
attempting to shore it up with their various takes on the Ultrabook
concept. On Tuesday, HP added a new item to the mix with the
announcement of a new line of notebooks it refers to as "Sleekbooks."
