Today's Story Highlights
Lenovo Takes a Page From Steve Jobs' Playbook
If you look back at what Steve Jobs did, he took a hard look at Porsche
and Sony, and then he effectively built a better Sony. As Apple's star
rose, Sony's star crashed, but Jobs never targeted Sony directly. He
just figured out what Sony wasn't doing right, and he did that extremely
well while Sony lost its way. He didn't copy Sony's products, he copied
its mission.

Aussie Prime Minister's YouTube Video Blocked as 'Spam'
A YouTube video posted by Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott was
blocked after what national media described as "mischievous" spam
reports. The video, "Delivering on our Promises," was replaced with a
boilerplate YouTube message saying that the video had been removed
because of "a violation of YouTube's policy against spam, scams and
commercially deceptive content."

IT Weaknesses Paved the Way for Target Hackers
The Target data breach exposed more than 100 million customers, riled up
U.S. intelligence agencies, sparked a Justice Department investigation,
involved the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, triggered
congressional hearings, and led several banks to re-issue their credit
cards. The hacker has variously been identified as a 17-year-old Russian
or one or more other cybercriminals.

The Motorola Shuffle: Lenovo Gets Business, Google Keeps Patents
Less than two years after Google's $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola
Mobility was finalized, Google on Wednesday announced that Lenovo would
be purchasing Motorola Mobility in a $2.91 billion deal. Google will be
retaining the vast majority of Motorola's patent portfolio, including
current patent applications and invention disclosures. Lenovo will get
2,000 patent assets as part of the deal.
