Burning Rubber on the Road to Virtualization (11:27 minutes)
Motorcycle maker Ducati has virtualized nearly all its servers, having
gone full-throttle for virtualization in a relatively short period of
time. "Given the targets we would face in just three to four years, it
was absolutely a necessity to move quickly into virtualization to enable
all the other products," said CIO Daniel Bellini.

Today's Story Highlights

Ikea Builds Electronics Into Furniture With Uppleva Line
A new all-in-one home entertainment center announced Tuesday by Ikea may
give some Baby Boomers a sense of deja vu. The new product line is
called "Uppleva" by the Swedish furniture retailer, known for making
attractively designed products with odd names and selling them at
affordable prices. It combines all the components of a home
entertainment system into a single piece of furniture.

Cloud Insecurity: Not Enough Tools, Experience or Transparency
It may be that the hype around cloud computing has settled, but security
concerns continue to make headlines and are often cited by CIOs as top
priorities. CompTIA's latest trends study found that while many U.S.
companies trust the cloud enough to use it, only 13 percent trust it
enough for heavy lifting.

Can the Olympics Muzzle Social Media?
The 2012 Olympics in London -- which have been dubbed the "first social
media Olympics" -- will be subjected to a dizzying number of social
media restrictions, according to a Tuesday Mashable report. According to
the article: "Athletes will not be allowed to tweet photos of themselves
with products that aren't official Olympics sponsors or share photos or
videos from inside the athletes' village."

little appeal to all but users with specialized needs. That is not the
case with Xournal. Even if you do not use a tablet for inputing notes,
this app still lets you create with style. If you are looking for a very
handy note-taking application, check out Xournal.

Greenpeace Lambastes Tech Heavies for Creating Foul Clouds
Behind every cloud there supposedly is a silver lining, but a new report
from Greenpeace, titled "How Clean Is Your Cloud?" may mean stormy
weather for Apple, Amazon and Microsoft. The three tech giants use
"dirty" energy to power their data centers, Greenpeace said. It looked
at 14 of the largest tech companies' data centers and offered
assessments of how much power they required, as well as what type of
energy they used.
