Podcast
The Proper Care and Feeding of Virtualized Environments (29:49 minutes)
IT support has grown ever more complex with the increased use of
virtualization and the cloud. Virtualization isn't just server by
server; it really impacts the entire data center. It needs to be thought
about holistically, particularly in regard to things like security and
performance.

Today's Story Highlights

LulzSec Rears Its Smirking Head in Military Dating Site Attack
Nine months after shutting down operations -- and just weeks after
several suspected members were arrested -- the LulzSec hacker community
has apparently sprung back to life, hacking the website of military
dating site MilitarySingles.

Driving Into the Future: Autonomous Cars
Self-driving cars are no longer just the stuff of science fiction.
Increasingly, they're becoming a reality. For the last several years,
Google has been testing self-driving, autonomous vehicles in California
-- and if they ever become mainstream, their promise is better
controlled and less deadly roadways. "We want to improve people's lives
by making driving safer, more enjoyable, and more efficient," said Jay
Nancarrow, a Google spokesperson.

3. 'Angry Birds Space HD' Soars Into Orbit
The "Angry Birds" franchise is one of the App Store's biggest success
stories. When it debuted almost two and a half years ago, its developers
hit on a potent formula for casual gaming profits. Make it colorful,
make it work nicely with a touchscreen, and make it really easy to
figure out.

Amazon Adds a Hint of Eucalyptus to AWS
Amazon Web Services has teamed up with private cloud infrastructure
provider Eucalyptus in a move that could enable the deployment of hybrid
clouds. Hybrid clouds are a combination of internal private clouds and
external public clouds.

Another iThing, Another iTempest
The debut of the latest iPad was once again an orgy of revenue for
Apple. The company claims 3 million were sold in the opening weekend,
and that certainly does sound like a lot. But just as iPad sales are
running hot, apparently so are the iPads themselves. Some users claim
the devices are growing alarmingly warm in their hands during heavy use.
