Desperately Seeking Data Management (22:39 minutes)
In the world of information management, project collapse is common,
whether it's because of cost, process or the people running the show.
The information architect "has to be a team player, working closely with
technology, because more and more information will be not just
machine-readable, but machine-processable and interpretable," said Build
The Vision's Robert Weisman.

Today's Story Highlights

More Google Tablet Noise: What Price, What Content?
A recent report has once again stirred up rumors that Google is planning
a tablet of its very own, a product line that could be akin to the
company's series of Nexus Android smartphones. The tablet could debut
sometime in March or April of this year, according to the report,
and it will be priced to compete with Amazon's Kindle Fire, which
retails for $199.

Analyst: Zynga's Plunge Into Puzzles a Smart Move
Zynga is plowing new ground with "Hidden Chronicles," a game it has
launched on Facebook. Zynga is touting it as its first social hidden
object game, and indeed, it is a departure from the 'Ville model that
made the company famous. It invites players to uncover hidden objects,
solve puzzles, and unlock mysteries. As is typical of Zynga games, there
is a heavy emphasis on the social element.

If you live or work in an area with marginal cell service and want to
use your Android smartphone to make and receive voice calls, you can.
The key is to piggyback on an Internet connection at your location using
the Internet bandwidth there to carry your voice traffic. This method of
calling works using VoIP technology -- a form of calling over computer
networks without traditional telephone copper wire.

Going All-FOSS With a New Computer
Linux bloggers' New Year's resolutions tend to be many and varied in any
given year, but one most can surely agree upon is the desire to outfit a
new PC with nothing but free software. That sentiment was anticipated
over at Computeractive UK, which published a compelling little story
along those lines back in December. "I want to use only free software on
my new PC. Where do I start?" the piece began.

Supersized AMOLED TV Will Likely Be a Wallet Walloper
Korean electronics giant LG will unveil the world's largest OLED TV,
with a 55-inch screen, at the Consumer Electronics Show next week in Las
Vegas. It will offer natural, accurate colors using technology
developed by Kodak. It will have a narrow bezel, weigh 16.5 pounds, and
measure just 4mm, or less than 0.2 inches, thick.
