How Enterprise App Stores Are Whipping Up Productivity (41:01 minutes)
As new devices like smartphones appear in users' hands, enterprise IT
needs to find new techniques for application delivery. Enterprise app
stores have proven to be an effective way to track, manage and
distribute software. What are the steps businesses can now take to build
and develop their own enterprise app store?

Today's Story Highlights
Tapping Your Smartphone to Stay Fit
One of the most-used leisure-oriented apps on my Android smartphones has
been Google's free My Tracks. The app brilliantly measures data related
to hikes and bike rides via the GPS radio. It tracks distance, speed,
time, elevation, grade and so on. Pressing "Start" when setting off, and
remembering to press "Stop" when ending ultimately creates a library of
pretty useless statistics that I can't stop collecting.

Is a Computer Science Degree Worth It?
Education may be "the most powerful weapon which you can use to change
the world," in the wise words of Nelson Mandela, but is that true of
education in all its forms? That, indeed, has been the question of the
day among Linux bloggers. "How worthwhile are Computer Science degrees?"
asked the TuxRadar team.

Gift Ideas for the Apple Addict
Most people I know have a hard time finding the right gifts for a lot of
the people in their lives, and I'm no exception: I'm picky, and often
enough in weird, demanding ways. For instance, while I like some shades
of blue, others irritate me. As for Mac and Apple fans, they tend to be
demanding, too.

Facebook Zips Up Its Fly
Facebook says it's fixed a glitch that temporarily allowed users to see
the private photos of others. The bug was connected to the system users
have for reporting offensive photos they might find on the public
portions of users' profiles. "There are a seemingly infinite number of
variables to test for in quality assurance," said security expert Randy
Abrams.

XXX Gives Porn Purveyors Official Red Light District
The ICM Registry on Monday launched the general availability of .xxx
domain names on a first-come, first-served basis. The .xxx domain is
meant to function as a responsible alternative for sites that offer
adult entertainment content and services, ICM noted. All .xxx sites will
be appropriately labeled, giving Internet users a clear indication in
advance of the type of content to expect.
