A powerful U.S. senator has accused the CIA of spying on a network drive
legislative staffers used to prepare a report on abuses -- including
torture -- in the agency's detention and interrogation program. The
search may have violated the separation of powers clause of the U.S.
Constitution, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Diane Feinstein, D-
Calif., told the Senate on Tuesday.

Jawbone's UP24 Makes Its Way to Android
After initially launching to an iOS-only audience late last year,
Jawbone's UP24 wireless fitness tracker on Tuesday finally arrived for
Android. With the UP24 wristband and accompanying app, users can
wirelessly sync sleep, movement and diet data to the app via Bluetooth
Smart. "Our entire community can enjoy the benefits in real time," said
Jawbone VP Travis Bogard.

Lenovo: IBM Strike's Not Our Problem
Chinese PC maker Lenovo is washing its hands of a wildcat strike at an
IBM factory in Shenzhen, China. In January, Lenovo purchased one of
IBM's server businesses, and the striking workers -- more than 1,000 of
them -- are among those who will be absorbed by Lenovo. The $2.3 billion
deal is not yet final, and Lenovo doesn't want to get stuck with any of
IBM's headaches until the ink is dry.

Trawling porn sites used to be the best way to pick up an electronically
transmitted disease on your phone. That's changed. Every one in five
times a mobile user is redirected to a malware site online, it's done
through a malicious ad, according to a new report. That's three times
what it was two years ago. One reason malicious ads have been able to
outperform porn is they can get more traffic.

Democreativity Wants Your Great Gaming Ideas
The Democreativity initiative is calling for gaming ideas from anyone
and everyone, with the hope of turning the best of them into hit video
games. The initiative is led by Visit Sweden, the Swedish Institute and
Business Sweden. Through its website, which launched last week, anyone
can post video game ideas. The site encourages completely original
submissions, as well as collaborative efforts.

Well it was a wild week here in Linux land, and not just because of the
asteroid that came hurtling by Earth at heart-lurching proximity. Pay no

tequila. Linux fans, however, had bigger -- or rather, smaller -- things

Titanfall to Thunder Into Game Stores Monday Night
Titanfall -- a video game for several Microsoft platforms -- is about to
be released, and the company apparently sees it as a hugely important
title for its Xbox One console. Titanfall is a multiplayer shooter that
pits two teams of up to six players against each other. Players control
"pilots," who can either engage with each other directly or take command
of titans.

restrict social media after this month's local elections, but President
Abdullah Gul said that was "out of the question."

Makulu Makeover May Give Your Linux Life a Lift
MakuluLinux was already a solidly performing distro, but the latest
version, released last month, takes Makulu to the next level of
usability and maturity. Earlier versions offered a choice of Xfce, KDE
and Enlightenment 17 desktops. So far, only the Xfce version is
available in MakuluLinux 5. However, the tweaking Makulu developer
Jacque Raymer built into this upgrade makes up for any loss.

Fed Ruling May Bring Flocks of Buzzing Drones to US Skies
The use of commercial drones in U.S. airspace is essentially legal, at
least for the time being. National Transportation Safety Board Judge
Patrick Geraghty this week nixed the Federal Aviation Administration's
attempt to levy a $10,000 against Raphael Pirker for using a remote-
controlled glider to capture video footage for an ad.

China to Test Drone's Smog-Clearing Powers
China is taking its chemical war with smog to another level. Government
agencies in China hope a newly designed drone can help mitigate air
pollution. The airborne vehicle will spray chemicals that freeze
pollutants, thereby knocking them to the ground. This tack begs whether
it is advisable to have pollution snowing on people from above -- but
hey, at least the sky won't be so unsightly.

Watch Out, NSA - Here Comes the Snowden Phone
Brash startup mobile carrier FreedomPop, which leases bandwidth from
Sprint and has launched several aggressive programs to help it take off,
on Wednesday unveiled the Privacy Phone -- nicknamed the "Snowden Phone"
-- a Samsung Galaxy SII tweaked to be highly secure. The fully encrypted
device costs $189, which includes unlimited talk, text and 500 MB of
data for three months.

Evernote for Android Could Make the Pen Mighty Again
Evernote this week launched handwriting capabilities in its app for
Android, offering a long-awaited extension of some of the functionality
it brought to iOS when it acquired Penultimate back in 2012. "Sometimes
there's no better way to capture an idea than to write it down or sketch
it out," wrote Andrew Sinkov of Evernote's marketing team in a Wednesday
blog post.
